Marriage is the most personal decision a family makes, and the information you share with us reflects that. This Privacy Policy explains what URBANaire Matrimony (“URBANaire”, “we”, “us” or “our”) collects, why we collect it, who can see it, how long we keep it and the control you hold over it at every step.
This Policy applies to www.urbanairematrimony.com and to every service we provide through it. It forms part of our Terms of Use, and by using the Platform you agree to both.
URBANaire Matrimony is a verified matchmaking platform. To introduce you to a suitable partner we necessarily handle personal information about you, and in many cases about a family member on whose behalf you have created a profile.
We follow the principles below in everything we do with that information:
If you are creating a profile for your son, daughter, brother, sister or a relative, you confirm that you have their consent to share their information with us and that you have shown them this Policy.
We collect information that you give us directly, information generated as you use the Platform, and a limited amount of technical information sent automatically by your browser.
| Category | What it includes |
|---|---|
| Account details | Your name, email address, phone number and password. Your password is stored only as a one-way cryptographic hash and is never readable by us or by anyone else. |
| Profile and bio-data | Who the profile is for, name, gender, date of birth, height, marital status, religion, community, mother tongue, education, profession, annual income, city, state, country and your personal description. |
| Partner preferences | Preferred age and height range, marital status, religion, community, mother tongue, education, location and any notes you add. |
| Photographs | The images you upload, which one is your primary photo, and the visibility you set for each image. |
| Verification documents | Government-issued photo ID and any supporting documents you share with our verification team, such as proof of education, profession or marital status. |
| Enquiries and support | The details you submit through our contact form, or send us by email, phone or WhatsApp, together with our replies. |
We do not run advertising trackers, analytics profiling or social media pixels on this website, and we do not build behavioural advertising profiles about you.
Every use below is tied directly to the service you signed up for.
We process this information on the basis of the consent you give when you register and submit your profile, and because it is necessary to perform the service contract between us. Where we rely on your consent, you may withdraw it at any time as described in section 12.
Your profile exists to be seen by suitable matches, and by nobody else. Visibility works in clearly defined layers.
You can deactivate your profile at any time from your account dashboard, which removes it from search results and from other members’ view while keeping your data intact should you return.
Photographs are the most personal part of a matrimonial profile, so we give you control over each one individually.
A limit worth understanding. Once another member can see a photo, we cannot technically prevent them from taking a screenshot. Copying or redistributing another member’s photos is strictly forbidden under our Terms of Use and we act firmly on every report, but please share images with this in mind.
We never sell, rent or trade your personal information. We share it only in the specific situations set out below.
Service providers may access your information only to perform the task we have engaged them for. They may not use it for their own purposes.
Membership payments are handled by a PCI-DSS compliant payment gateway. When you pay online, your card number, CVV, UPI PIN, net banking credentials and wallet details are entered on the gateway and travel directly to it.
What we do store against your account is the transaction reference issued by the gateway, the amount, the currency and whether the payment succeeded or failed. If you pay by direct bank transfer instead, we record the reference you quote so our team can match the credit to your account.
Payment and membership records are retained for the period tax and accounting law requires, as set out in section 10.
We keep our use of cookies deliberately minimal. This website sets one essential cookie, a standard PHP session cookie, and nothing else.
| Cookie | Purpose and behaviour |
|---|---|
| Session cookie | Keeps you logged in as you move between pages. It holds only a random session identifier, never your personal details. It is marked HttpOnly so scripts cannot read it, restricted with SameSite protection against cross-site misuse, sent only over HTTPS on our secure site, and it expires when you close your browser or log out. |
We do not set advertising cookies, analytics cookies or social media tracking pixels. Your session identifier is regenerated each time you log in, which protects against session fixation attacks.
Some parts of the page, such as fonts and icons, load from reputable content delivery networks. Those networks receive your IP address as a normal part of serving the file, in the same way any website request works. We share nothing else with them.
Messages you exchange with another member are stored so that your conversation is there when you return, and so that both of you can refer back to it.
Service messages about your account, verification, matches and payments are part of the service and continue while your account is active. Promotional messages are separate, and you can opt out of them at any time by replying to the message or writing to info@urbanairematrimony.com. If you contact us on WhatsApp, that conversation is also subject to WhatsApp’s own privacy policy.
We keep your information only as long as it serves the purpose it was collected for, or as long as the law requires.
| Information | Retention period |
|---|---|
| Account and profile data | While your account is active. Removed within 30 days of a deletion request, apart from records we must keep by law. |
| Photographs and verification documents | Deleted with your profile. Copies held in routine backups are overwritten within 30 days. |
| Messages, interests and shortlists | While your account is active, then removed along with your account. |
| Payment and membership records | Up to 8 years, as tax and accounting law in India requires. |
| Reports, blocks and safety records | Up to 3 years, so that we can protect other members from a repeat offender. |
| Server logs | Typically 30 to 90 days, for security and troubleshooting. |
| Password reset tokens | Stored hashed and expire automatically a short time after they are issued. |
We apply reasonable technical and organisational security practices appropriate to the sensitivity of matrimonial information.
No system can promise absolute security. Please use a strong, unique password, never share it, and log out on shared devices. Tell us at once if you suspect your account has been accessed by someone else.
The information is yours, and you keep meaningful control over it.
To exercise any of these rights, write to info@urbanairematrimony.com from your registered email address. We may ask you to confirm your identity before we act, so that nobody else can make a request in your name. We respond within 30 days.
These rights are recognised under Indian law, including the Information Technology Act, 2000 with the rules made under it, and the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.
When you find your match, we would love to hear about it, and then we want your data gone. You have two options:
Deletion is permanent and cannot be reversed. Two things survive it: records we must retain by law, such as payment and tax records, and safety records where a report has been made against the account, which we keep to protect other members. Both are held in restricted form and are not used for any other purpose.
Deleting your account does not delete the copy of a message already delivered to another member’s inbox, in the same way an email you have sent cannot be recalled.
A matrimonial profile naturally contains information that Indian law treats as sensitive, including your religion, community, caste, date of birth, income and, in some cases, health or disability details you choose to disclose.
URBANaire Matrimony is intended only for adults of legal marriageable age under Indian law, being at least 21 years for men and 18 years for women. The Platform is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone below the applicable age.
If we discover that a profile belongs to a person below the legal marriageable age, we will remove the profile and delete the associated information promptly. If you believe such a profile exists, please report it to us at once at info@urbanairematrimony.com.
URBANaire Matrimony serves NRI members and families around the world. Whichever country you access the Platform from, your information is stored and processed on servers operated by our hosting provider, and by the service providers described in section 06.
This means that if you are outside India, your personal information will be transferred to and processed in the country where those servers are located, which may have data protection laws different from your own. By using the Platform and submitting your profile, you consent to that transfer. We require every provider we engage to protect your information under contract and to the standard set out in this Policy.
The Platform may link to third-party websites and services, including our payment gateway, WhatsApp, and partners such as wedding planners, photographers or astrologers we refer you to.
Once you leave our Platform, this Policy no longer applies. Those services collect and handle your information under their own privacy policies, which we encourage you to read. We are not responsible for their practices, content or security.
If a security incident affects your personal information, we will act quickly to contain it, assess what has happened and close the vulnerability.
Where the incident is likely to cause you harm, we will notify you without undue delay through your registered email address or a notice on the Platform, telling you what information was affected, what we have done about it, and what you should do to protect yourself. We will also report the incident to the relevant authorities within the timelines the law requires.
We may update this Policy to reflect changes in our services, our practices or the law. The revised version takes effect when it is published on this page, and the “Last Updated” date above records when that happened.
Where a change materially affects how we handle your information, we will make reasonable efforts to notify you by email or through a notice on the Platform before it takes effect. Continuing to use the Platform after a change means you accept the revised Policy.
If you have a question about this Policy, want to exercise one of your rights, or wish to complain about how your information has been handled, please write to our Grievance Officer from your registered email address with a clear description of the issue.
We acknowledge every complaint within 48 hours and aim to resolve it within 15 days of receipt, in line with the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines) Rules.
We are here 7 days a week, and most queries are answered within a few hours.
